Evie's Way, Baby

Be Heard, Speak Up.

Welcome To My Site

When I was in third grade my teacher nominated me to write a question and answer column. My classmates were the audience. I believe her choice of me was due to my tendency to talk too much. She wanted to give me an outlet for my stream of consciousness. For whatever reason, I took the job and ran with it. My column was called “Dear Gabby,” and it became an advice column. That column started me on a career in journalism – and eventually landed me in journalism school. With a bachelor of science in journalism in my back pocket, I worked 10 years as a television journalist. Then the law called for me, and I’ve been litigating cases ever since. Between the two, I’d like to say, I’ve pretty much seen it all. In recent years, I’ve become concerned by the lack of civil discourse and objectivity that permeates our everyday existence. So much noise. Who to trust? The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees certain rights. These include freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. It also ensures the right to assemble and the right to petition the government. Seems like a good place to start. What do those First Amendment freedoms mean today? What do they guarantee? Let’s start a dialogue and find out.

Looking ahead to the discourse,

Evie
