The story behind Jerry Sandusky and Penn State’s actions involving young children is more appalling than one could have imagined.  From the prior coverage and trial we knew that the men who headed up the football program at Penn State and its top officials cared more about their football program than the shattered lives of the young people so terribly abused by Jerry Sandusky. However, after reading the Special Investigative Counsel’s Report written by former FBI Director Louis Freeh and his team we now know that the total disregard for these young children was worse than imagined.  There were at least 10 men who knew what Sandusky was doing in the Penn State football locker room yet not one of them thought to pick up the phone to call the police. Just as horrifying, not once during the time these crimes on children were occurring did one of these men ever express any interest in finding out who the boys were or whether they had been hurt.  Read the Special Investigative Counsel’s Report at the following link and help me to understand  — in what kind of place can something like this occur and what kind of experiences create men like these?   The Freeh Report on Sandusky
